Mumbai News Live Updates:   A fire broke out at Food Corporation of India’s rice godown in Kalamboli, Navi Mumbai on Tuesday morning. “We got a call about the fire at around 7.04 am. 5 fire tenders are present at the spot. The fire has been brought under control,” Saurabh Patil, Chief Fire Officer, Kalamboli, was quoted saying by news agency ANI

The BMC has planned an extensive beautification project for Dadar and Mahim, including the shoreline between Dadar and Mahim beach, Shivaji Park, Portugese Church Junction and Dadar station. The BMC has proposed having a multimedia light show along the Mahim and Dadar beaches and a digital aquarium inside the park opposite Chaityabhumi. This will provide tourists an experience of walking underground though a tunnel, with water and marine life overhead.

In other news, Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said on Tuesday that the much-awaited second expansion of the Maharashtra cabinet would take place soon and the final dates would be worked out in consultation with Chief Minister Eknath Shinde.

Meanwhile, students’ organisations in Maharashtra are once again demanding to bring back campus elections, more so after Mumbai’s Tata Institute of Social Science (TISS) managed to hold a peaceful election last week. The demand comes at a time when the Mumbai University is in the process of reforming its executive bodies such as the senate, management and the academic council.
