Delhi court on Friday announced that it will deliver its decision on former Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia‘s request for bail on March 31. The judge presiding over the case, M K Nagpal, has reserved the order after the CBI submitted a brief note stating its argument in the matter.

“A brief written submission on behalf of CBI has been filed in opposition to the regular bail application of the accused. Copy thereof as well as case law has been given to the counsel of accused. Copy of part of case diary and statements of some witnesses have been also made available,” the special judge said.

The hearing on Manish Sisodia‘s bail plea was postponed by the judge on March 21 and rescheduled for March 24 in order to obtain additional clarification and submissions.

Sisodia has been held in the custody of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) for seven days, during which he was questioned by the agency.

He was arrested on February 26 on charges related to corruption in the formulation and implementation of the Delhi Excise Policy 2021-22, which has since been scrapped.

On March 9, the Enforcement Directorate also arrested Sisodia while he was being held in Tihar jail in connection with the same case being investigated by the CBI.
