Etah: A woman from Sweden who travelled to India to marry a man has proved that love knows no boundaries. The Swedish woman covered a distance of nearly 6,000 kilometre to marry the love of her life.
Christen Liebert flew to India to marry Pawan Kumar, a resident of Uttar Pradesh’s Etah, who she met on Facebook. The duo got married according to Hindu customs at a school in the district on Friday, news agency ANI reported.

In the video of the marriage, Christen Liebert, dressed in an Indian wedding dress, and the groom can be seen exchanging garland during the varmala ceremony.

The woman who reportedly met Pawan Kumar on Facebook in 2012 said she had visited India earlier too.

“I have been to India before, I love India and I am very happy about this marriage,” the Swedish woman said.

Kumar, a B Tech graduate from a Dehradun university, works as an engineer at a firm.

The groom’s father Geetam Singh said their happiness lies in the children’s happiness. “We totally agree with this marriage,” he said.

Last week, a 19-year-old Pakistani woman was arrested in Bengaluru after she allegedly travelled to India illegally to marry a man from Uttar Pradesh.

The woman identified as Iqra Jeevani had entered India last year through the porous India-Nepal border to Mulayam Singh Yadav. She met Yadav, a 25-year-old security guard, through a gaming app.

The police arrested her for allegedly forging her identity and illegally staying in Bengaluru, PTI reported.
