Smart wearables manufacturer, Garmin has launched the Instinct GPS as its first-ever premium lifestyle smartwatch in India. The watch is mainly built for outdoor activities. The Garmin Instinct comes with a rugged body and a screen resistant to scratches. It is being launched in India with a price tag of Rs 26,990.
Garmin Instinct Features
The MIL-STD-810G rating allows this smartwatch to withstand inclement weather conditions. The smartwatch is featured with a silicone strap and its bezels, and the case consists of a fibre-reinforced polymer. The smartwatch comes of 10 ATM rating which makes it possible to use under 100 meters of water. You can safely use it while swimming, snorkeling, but it should not be used in deep water activities like scuba diving. The TracBack feature on the device aids the users to roll back through the same route to the starting point.
The phone when paired with a smartphone displays notifications and weather updates. It controls music, accesses camera remote function and more. It even has the ability to find your smartphone if you have forgotten where you have kept it last.On Android devices, the Instinct allows users to respond to text messages and reject phone calls.
The phone enables activity tracking features such as a pedometer, calories counter and all-day stress tracking. It is packed with gym activity profiles for strength, cardio, elliptical training and more. The Garmin Instinct GPS-enabled smartwatch offers preloaded running profiles for treadmill running, indoor track running and trail running. It also comes loaded with profiles for outdoor recreational activities, cycling and swimming.
Meanwhile, in the launch event, Garmin India National Sales Manager Ali Rizvi was quoted as saying that the smartwatch has been built on US military standard 810G (MIL-STD-810G) for thermal, shock and water resistance. The watch is packed with a plethora of technologically advanced features for the audience, having a flair of exploring outdoor experiences.
Garmin Instinct Specifications
The Garmin Instinct measures a dimension of 45 x 45 x 15.3mm and has a weight of 52 grams. The Instinct smartwatch features a monochrome display of 128 x 128 pixels. It has an inbuilt memory of 16 GB.
The size of the battery is not yet mentioned by Garmin, but the company claims that the product can continue working for upto 14 days in smartwatch mode, upto 14 hours in GPS mode, and for upto 35 hours in UltraTrac battery saving mode. The device is embedded with multiple sensors such as GPS, GLONASS, Galileo, heart rate sensor, barometric altimeter, compass, accelerometer and thermometer. Bluetooth connectivity enables the smartwatch to be paired with iPhone and Android devices
The Garmin Instinct might cause a strain in the pockets for those who are not looking forward to spending that much on a smartwatch. The smartwatch is available on leading ecommerce channels such as Paytm Mall and Amazon India. The device can also be purchased from Garmin’s authorised online store, and select Helio outlets. The variants include Instinct Graphite, Instinct Tundra and Instinct Flame Red.
