As per reports, the upcoming new feature will give users the option to choose the quality of the picture they wish to send within the platform. The report in WABetaInfo reveals that the new feature, which is currently rolling out Android and iOS beta, will appear only when the user selects a large size file, giving them the option to choose if they wish to send the image as a high-definition (HD) photo.
This new feature has been one of the most demanded features by users on WhatsApp as the Meta-owned social networking platform so far doesn’t allow sharing of high-resolution media files within the app which in turn compresses the quality of pictures.
While this upcoming feature preserves image dimensions, minor compression will still be applied to the picture, thus sending photos in their original quality is not possible.
How The HD Photo Sharing Feature Will Work:
The default option for sharing high-ress pictures on WhatsApp will always be ‘Standard quality’ for all pictures, so the users have to select the HD option every time they want to send a photo with better quality.
A new tag will be added to the message bubble when sending a photo with the ‘high quality’ option to inform the recipient that the photo is sent using this feature.According to the report, the ability to send HD pictures on WhatsApp is currently rolling out to some beta testers on Android and iOS, and is expected to roll out to more users over the coming weeks. In January this year, it was reported that the messaging platform was working on this feature for Android beta, and meanwhile, in the following month, another report mentioned that this feature was in the works for iOS beta.
