The technology industry is witnessing job cuts on an almost daily basis. Recently, PayPal announced the job cuts and now another company has joined the list.
As reported by Bloomberg, Pinterest is laying off about 150 employees which accounts to less than 5% of its total workforce. For the uninitiated, Pinterest is a digital search company which enables users to create online pinboards.
Confirming about the job cuts, a Pinterest spokesperson told Bloomberg, “We’re making organizational changes to further set us up to deliver against our company priorities and our long-term strategy. Our employees are the heart of how we’re able to serve our Pinners around the world. All of the employees who were impacted contributed to Pinterest and as they transition, we’re committed to supporting them with separation packages, benefits and other services.”
The report further adds that Pintrest will offer separation packages to the impacted employees along with some benefits.
PayPal announce job cuts
Recently, Payments firm PayPal announced that it is planning to cut up to 7% of its workforce which accounts for close to 2,000 employees. “While we have made substantial progress in right-sizing our cost structure, and focused our resources on our core strategic priorities, we have more work to do,” said PayPal’s Chief Executive Dan Schulman.
“Change can be difficult – particularly when it includes valued colleagues and friends departing. We will face this head-on together, drawing on the unparalleled scale of our global platform, the strategic investments we have made to strengthen our core capabilities, and the trust and loyalty of our customer,” added Dan.
