This new feature will help Spotify decide what type of music you like to listen to and then build your profile accordingly.
The upcoming feature is called ‘Exclude From Your Taste Profile’. The Swedish audio streaming and media services provider is pitching the feature as a way to keep your recommendations from getting overrun by “songs and artists that don’t fit” your general listening habits.
The new feature is rolling out to users on web, desktop, iOS and Android and will provide them the ability to exclude select playlists from their ‘Taste Profile’.
“We understand why you might not want kids’ music popping up in your Blend playlists, or white noise dominating your Discover Weekly. That’s why we’re introducing a new feature that will make personalization better than ever: the ability to exclude select playlists from your Taste Profile,” Spotify said.
What Is A Taste Profile?
A Taste Profile on Spotify is the music streaming platform’s interpretation of your taste based on what you listen to and how you listen to it. The profile helps Spotify personalise user experience by informing their recommendations and experiences with taste summaries and personalise playlists, including user’s top songs and Daily Mixes. How Will The New Feature Work?
You can exclude certain playlists that don’t fit your mood or choice of music by clicking on a button ‘Exclude’ which keeps the selected playlists from being added to your Taste Profile and reduces the impact they have on your recommendations.
But when you exclude a playlist from your Taste Profile, you can still find it easily in your Home tab.
Once the feature is enabled for your Taste Profile, it will exclude past and future listening of the playlist from your music profile.
How To Enable The Feature?
It just takes three simple steps to enable Spotify’s new feature, Exclude From Taste Profile:
- Select the playlist of your choice.
- Tap the three dots near the top of the playlist.
- Select ‘Exclude from your Taste Profile’.
