Skin Care: How to make natural sunscreen cream at home – Times of India |

[ad_1]

Making a homemade natural sunscreen cream involves using ingredients that provide some level of sun protection. However, it’s important to note that homemade sunscreens may not offer the same level of protection as commercial sunscreens, which are rigorously tested and regulated. If you prefer a homemade option, here’s a simple recipe to try:
Ingredients:
1/4 cup coconut oil
1/4 cup shea butter
2 tablespoons zinc oxide powder (non-nano)
1 tablespoon beeswax pellets
Optional: 10 drops of your preferred essential oil (for fragrance)
Instructions:
In a double boiler or a heat-safe bowl placed over a pot of simmering water, melt the coconut oil, shea butter, and beeswax pellets together until fully melted.
Once melted, remove from heat and allow the mixture to cool slightly.
Carefully add the zinc oxide powder to the mixture, stirring well to combine. Make sure the powder is fully incorporated to ensure even sun protection.
If desired, add your preferred essential oil for fragrance and stir well.
Transfer the mixture to a clean, airtight container or jar. It’s best to use a dark or opaque container to protect the sunscreen from light.
Allow the mixture to cool and solidify completely before use. This may take a few hours.
Usage:
Before going out in the sun, apply a generous amount of the homemade sunscreen cream to all exposed areas of the skin. Reapply every two hours or more frequently if sweating or swimming.
This homemade sunscreen may have a lower SPF (sun protection factor) than commercially available products. It’s important to be aware of your skin’s sensitivity to the sun and adjust sun exposure accordingly. Additionally, it’s recommended to do a patch test before applying the homemade sunscreen to ensure you don’t have any adverse reactions to the ingredients.
