Nothing Phone 2 Launch: Carl Pei says Nothing Phone (2) will launch later this year, to offer refined software experience

After successfully launching the Nothing Phone 1, the founder of the company, Carl Pei recently announced that Nothing will soon be launching the successor.

The upcoming phone will be called the Nothing Phone (2). During an interview, the CEO and the founder of the tech company told Inverse that the company has decided to make the US their No. 1 priority in terms of markets and will be launching the next flagship Android smartphone which will be called the Phone (2).

The confirmation comes at a time when people in the US have to pay $299 for ‘beta membership’ to get their hands on the Phone (1) with the caveat that it only supports the N41 5G band T-Mobile. US carriers demand that smartphones go through a certification process and mandate that certain features must be included in the software.

“We couldn’t do it earlier because we were only in our second year and our hands were tied building the team as we were building the products. Now as we’re on a more solid footing, we can take a step forward,” Pei said.
The CEO said that initially there were only 5 engineers on the mobile team, so work on Nothing OS had to be outsourced.

But now that the team has been expanded, the Nothing’s Android 13 beta is made completely in house.
The upcoming smartphone will be more premium than the original and will likely offer a refined software experience and innovative hardware design. While Carl Pei is looking to launch the smartphone, the Nothing Phone (2), by the end of 2023, it’s still not clear or confirmed when the phone will be launched in India. Not much is known about the upcoming smartphone, but we can expect the company to retain the semi-transparent design on the Nothing Phone (2), which has been a proprietary element.
