The CCI has imposed a fine of Rs 1,338 crores on Google for “abusing its market dominant position.” The Indian regulator has said that manufacturers of Android smartphones should not be forced to pre-install Gooogle apps while instructing Google to provide fair access to OEMs, app developers, and its competition.
Google replied to the CCI’s order, terming it a “major setback” for businesses and consumers. The search giant further added that the order would expose users to “serious security risks,” raising the cost of mobile devices in the country.
