India Records 179 Covid Cases. Active Caseload Declines By 30, Recovery Rate Nearly 99 Percent

New Delhi: India logged a single-day rise of 179 new coronavirus infections, while the active cases declined to 2,227, the Union Health Ministry informed in its bulletin on Saturday. The total number of Covid-19 cases is now at 4.46 crore (4,46,80,936) while the death toll is 5,30,726 with one death reconciled by Kerala, the data updated at 8 am stated.

A decrease of 30 cases has been recorded in the active Covid-19 caseload in 24 hours.

The daily positivity was recorded at 0.10 per cent while the weekly positivity rate was also 0.10 per cent.

The active cases comprise 0.01 per cent of the total infections, while the national Covid-19 recovery rate has increased to 98.80 per cent, according to the health ministry website.

The number of people who have recuperated from the disease surged to 4,41,47,983, while the case fatality rate was recorded at 1.19 per cent.

According to the ministry’s website, 220.16 crore doses of Covid vaccine have been administered in the country so far under the nationwide Covid-19 vaccination drive.

On Friday, India’s tally of COVID-19 cases rose by 174 in 24 hours while the active caseload declined to 2,257. The daily positivity was recorded at 0.09 per cent while the weekly positivity rate was 0.10 per cent. The number of people who have recovered from Covid incresed to 4,41,47,775, while the case fatality rate was recorded at 1.19 per cent. 

Notably, Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya said on Friday that the COVID-19 pandemic has been a catalyst of growth and has accelerated the adoption of digital tools.

“The COVID-19 pandemic has taught us that we live in an interdependent world and we are all vulnerable when it comes to managing any public health emergency,” the minister said, as quoted by news agency PTI.

The pandemic has highlighted the existing challenges in health systems and the need for a 360-degree transformation in healthcare delivery, pathway and infrastructure, he added, addressing the health ministers’ session at the Voice of Global South Summit 2023.
