The signs and symptoms of severe disease caused by H3N2 influenza can vary from person to person. The symptoms include high fever, severe headache, body pain, sore throat, severe and persistent cough , cold and congestion in the lungs. Other symptoms include body aches, nausea, vomiting, or diarrhea.
Dr. Vinay Bhatia, Head -Molecular Biology, National Reference Lab, Oncquest Laboratories Limited, Gurugram, says, “The illness is said to cause fever that lasts for 3-5 days and a prolonged cough and cold for up to three weeks. If one is finding it difficult to breathe, have low blood pressure, high rate of breathing, bluish lips, seizures, confusion, one must be taken to hospital immediately. An uptick in ICU admissions was seen mostly in those who have comorbidities and those older than 65 years of age.”
