The consultants are being assigned about 300 acres, 15km from the SVP Sports Enclave for retail, living spaces and recreational facilities. Among the many sports facilities that will be put in place are a football stadium with 50,000 seats, an aquatic centre for Olympic events, a velodrome, basketball and volleyball arena, tennis centre and large indoor games area.
The plan also include places earmarked for leisure boating and outdoor gymnasiums, a riverfront plaza and an international broadcasting centre (IBC). “All these facilities need to be planned, designed, and sized for Olympic venue requirements. The venue should also fully comply with all rules applicable or specified by IOC,” said a senior AUDA official.
Apart from the basic Olympic-sized sporting venues, the consultants will also be asked to propose additional sports and non-sports facilities the composition, which will be part of the master planning.
According to a detailed note issued by AUDA, the agency is expecting consultants to develop a long-term legacy plan with a robust design that shall “ensure long term utilization of the venues round the year”.
The proposal has also demanded a detailed plan to promote the SVP Enclave as a major sporting and events venue in Asia. “One of the highlights of the project is that the entire enclave will be developed as a unique carbon-positive complex,” added the AUDA official.
