During this major outage, over 59 per cent people reported facing problems while using Twitter, while 32 per cent were unable to use the website, according to the outage monitor website DownDetector.
Around 9 per cent people had difficulty with server connection, the report said.
As Twitter went down for most users across the world, the CEO of the microblogging platform, Elon Musk, sent an SOS email to staff to pause all work on feature development until the outage was solved.
“Please pause for now on new feature development in favor of maximizing system stability and robustness, especially with the Super Bowl coming up,” Musk wrote to employees in an email, the Information said in a report.
Since Musk took control of Twitter, he has cut the workforce to 2,300 employees from around 8,000 when he took over in October for $44 billion.
Though it is still not clear what caused the Wednesday outage, several experts in the past had warned that such massive cuts could lead to technical issues.
However, it did not stop people from turning the Twitter tragedy into comedy.

As Twitter got to work to resolve the issue, several users took to the social network to report the issues. “Did Twitter Dms stop working #TwitterDown?” asked one user on Twitter, while another tweeted: “Anyone else being blocked from tweeting or retweeting? #TweetLimit #DailyLimit #TwitterDown.”

Users had scheduled their tweets for reporting the issues as they were not likely to post it immediately.
After receiving multiple reports of the outage, the company posted from its @TwitterSupport account on Thursday and said: “Twitter may not be working as expected for some of you. Sorry for the trouble. We’re aware and working to get this fixed.”

In December last year, Twitter went down for several users globally including in India, and CEO Elon Musk had said the outage was due to back-end changes to make the platform faster.
