Cricket, Kashmir Willow and broken bats: The story of ‘Asia’s best gin’

[ad_1]

Synopsis

Broken Bat, a gin aged with toasted Kashmir Willow, has been declared the best gin in Asia by The Gin Guide Awards 2023. The gin took nine months to perfect and was conceived as a joke, with co-founder Anand Virmani stating that the norm of oak barrels was not to be followed. Aged in the company of toasted Kashmir Willow, the gin’s bold, woody flavour is inspired by cricket bats. The Indian gin market is projected to reach $1.6bn by 2030, with the success of brands such as Broken Bat contributing to its rise.

You thought Kashmir Willow was meant for tasting that sweet, sweet flavour of victory on a cricket pitch? Well, think again!Sir Garry Sobers’ spirit must be tad glad right now. From spirits stimulating his game, the world has come full circle to his game stimulating spirits. There is no record of Sir Sobers breaking bats while breaking opposition bowlers, sober or otherwise, but Anand Virmani & Co. did ‘officially’ break 35. All to achieve that
