India has not seen any new sub-variant of Covid-19 virus for more than a month, said people familiar with the matter.
Indian Sars-CoV-2 Consortium on Genomics, a network of laboratories monitoring genomic variations of Covid-19 virus, which held a review meeting on Friday, has not seen any “unusual pattern” or “any new variant or sub-variant”, said one of the persons, who did not wish to be identified.
XBB, a virus formed from a combination of the Omicron sub-variants BA2.75 and BA2, continues to be the dominant Covid variant, followed by earlier-dominant B2.75 and the other sub-variants which are “insignificant”, said the person.
