The recovery of 201 patients in the last 24 hours took the cumulative tally to 4,41,46,055. Consequently, India’s recovery rate stands at 98.80 per cent.
Also in the same period, a total of 1,93,051 tests were conducted across the country, increasing the overall tally to over 91.15 crore.
With 61,828 vaccines administered in last 24 hourss, India’s Covid-19 vaccination coverage exceeded 220.12 crore as of Thursday morning.

Covid News: Toyota chief tests positive for COVID, cancels business event attendance, reports Reuters
Toyota Motor Corp President Akio Toyoda has tested positive for COVID-19 and will be absent from a series of New Year events to be held by Japanese business lobbies on Thursday, a company spokesperson said. Toyoda had been due at events in Tokyo hosted by Japan’s top trade organisations where business and political leaders including Prime Minister Fumio Kishida will be in attendance. China Covid News: China under-representing true impact of Covid, says WHO
- The World Health Organization (WHO) warned that China is “under-representing the true impact” of the Covid-19 pandemic in the country, especially the exact number of deaths. In a statement on Wednesday, Michael Ryan, Executive Director of the WHO’s Health Emergencies Programme, said: “We believe that definition (of a Covid death) is too narrow,” the BBC reported.

The lab alerted the health department about the sample of the man being tested Covid-19 positive following an antigen test.
