The BJP launched a video campaign on Sunday, hitting out at the Congress over alleged corruption during its governments at the Centre, in response to a video released by the opposition party asking questions on the BJP’s links with industrialist Gautam Adani.

A three-minute video released on the BJP’s official Twitter handle, titled ‘Congress Files Season one Episode one- Congress means Corruption‘, termed 10 years of UPA rule as the lost decade, as often mentioned by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in his speeches.

The video started with a mammoth figure of Rs 48,20,69,00,00,000 and alleged that in 70 years, the Congress looted this much money from the people of the country. It said that with this much money, 24 INS Vikrants could have been constructed, 300 Rafale jets could have been purchased and 1,000 Mission Mangals could have been completed.

It referred to various scams during the UPA rule such as the coal scam and 2G scam and called then PM Manmohan Singh “Mauni Baba”, alleging that he remained silent while corruption took place under him. At the end the video promised to come up with another episode where it alleged that the Nehru-Gandhi family used threats to sell a painting for ‘2 crore.
