Vasco: Vasco police rescued a newborn girl who was abandoned in the fields at Merces Vaddem, in Vasco. The baby was spotted by Sudesh Madkaikar, a resident of Merces Vaddem, on Friday afternoon. A team of Vasco police led by sub-inspector Rohan Nageshkar, under the supervision of inspector Kapil Nayak, rescued the infant and immediately had her sent to the Goa Medical College (GMC) and Hospital at Bambolim for treatment. The police have registered an offence against the parents of the newborn who are yet to be identified. tnn
