A division bench of Calcutta High Court on Monday permitted BJP to file a public interest litigation (PIL) over the attack on the convoy of Union minister Nisith Pramanik in Coochebhar, according to people in the know.
The Saturday attack on the convoy drew a stern response from West Bengal governor CV Ananda Bose too. He termed the attack “deplorable” and said the “governor will not be a mute witness to any deterioration of law and order”. He has sought an action taken report from the state government.
BJP’s Bengal unit had sought the attention of high court’s chief justice Prakash Srivastava and justice Rajasrshi Bharadwaj to file a petition. The plea was filed by advocate Suryanil Das.
Meanwhile, Trinamool criticised the governor for his response.
