bjp: BJP calls in Vasundhara Raje to discuss strategy, CM face for Rajasthan

BJP leader and former Rajasthan chief minister Vasundhara Raje was in Delhi on Wednesday to meet the party’s central leadership over talks of some organisational changes in the state.

This comes as senior BJP leaders, including Union home minister Amit Shah, BJP president JP Nadda and organisational general secretary BL Santosh are brainstorming over party strategy for the upcoming elections in Rajasthan.

The meeting with Raje is being seen as taking stock of the situation of the state. Raje met Santosh at the party office before heading for another meeting.

Raje had to be in Udaipur on Wednesday, but she went only after her meeting with Santosh. She will be back in Delhi again on Thursday.

There are talks of some organisational changes in Rajasthan BJP in the wake of upcoming assembly elections.

The party has already announced new state president CP Joshi, replacing Satish Poonia.Sources tell ET a new state team under Joshi is likely to be announced by the first week of July. There is also a possibility of early announcement of election in-charge and party campaign in-charge, the position Raje is eyeing for herself.In the aftermath of Karnataka assembly polls, there is a view among BJP leaders that along with Prime Minister Modi’s face, a strong regional leader’s face could further brighten the party’s election prospects.

Raje, who has been holding meetings for some time in various parts of the state as her show of strength, is seen as a pan-Rajasthan leader having influence over more than one caste in the state.
