“If money has been transferred into their accounts, as reported by the media, arrest is plausible. Through a mega campaign across Bengal, if Banerjee thinks people will hit the roads when he gets arrested, he is wrong,” Majumdar told media persons in Singur, referring to Banerjee’s people’s connect programme, ‘Trinamool-e Nabo Jowar’ (New wave in Trinamool), in the state.
“Abhishek Banerjee is trying to follow the organisational structure of the BJP. He is holding meetings at night inside the tents set up for the campaign. We know with whom he is holding the meetings but we will not mention any names. He cannot escape like that,” Majumdar said. “If he thinks he will get arrested and people will stand behind him, it is wrong.”
He said wherever Banerjee has conducted “Nabo Jowar”, people have left the party and joined BJP. “Some have even joined the Congress,” Majumdar said.
Slamming Majumdar for his comments, AITC spokesman Kunal Ghosh said, “It is a ploy to conspire against Trinamool Congress.”
