“BCCI Wants Pakistan To Travel To India, But BCCI Doesn’t Want India To Play In Pakistan”

Pakistan have the hosting rights for the Asia Cup 2023, which is scheduled to start on September 2, 2023. The relationships between the Board of Control for Cricket in India and the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) have been strained. PCB’s management committee chairman, Najam will meet the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) representatives in Bahrain on February 4.

Earlier, the BCCI secretary and the ACC president, Jay Shah made an announcement that Indian players will not travel to Pakistan for the continental tournament and that the Asia Cup 2023 will be held at a neutral venue. Former PCB chief Ramiz Raja has expressed anger over Shah’s statement by threatening to pull out of the 2023 ODI World Cup in India.

Najam Sethi To Attend ACC Meeting On February 4 In Bahrain

Sethi maintained the PCB’s strong stance against India and stated that the Asia Cup was unlikely to be held at a neutral venue outside Pakistan. Sethi expressed his desire to meet Jay Shah and discuss the details of the tournament.

Addressing a press conference in Lahore on Monday, Sethi said that he will represent Pakistan at the upcoming ACC meet in Bahrain and put forward the country’s stance related to hosting the Asia Cup later this year. This meeting will be held in the background of ongoing tensions between Pakistan and India on issues related to cricket.

“Finally, we have a date now to meet ACC officials. I will attend ACC’s meeting on February 4 in Bahrain. I am not sure about our stance for now; I will decide it in the meeting, keeping an eye on the situation,” Sethi said.

Sethi said that the BCCI agreed to host Pakistan for the World Cup but refused to visit Pakistan for the Asia Cup. He said, “BCCI wants Pakistan to travel to India, but BCCI doesn’t want India to play in Pakistan. This is not something new for us.”

The Asia Cup will be held in Pakistan for the first time in 14 years. The tournament, which will be played in the ODI format, is scheduled to take place in September, ahead of the ODI World Cup in India in October.
