The Calcutta High Court on Wednesday directed the West Bengal government to submit a report in two days on the attack on Union Minister of State (MoS) for Home Affairs Nisith Pramanik‘s convoy and the steps taken by the state administration. A public interest litigation (PIL), filed by the BJP leadership on this issue, was heard by a bench comprising Chief Justice Prakash Srivastava and Justice Rajarshi Bharadwaj on Wednesday.

The court observed that the report should be submitted by the state administration by Friday (March 3), along with the case diary. The next hearing has been scheduled for Friday afternoon. The BJP leadership has demanded a CBI inquiry into the incident. The advocate representing the BJP has pleaded in court that central forces can be deployed in Coochbehar to bring the situation under control. However, the state counsel claimed that BJP is dealing with the matter with a political intention ahead of the panchayat polls.
