“watchOS is the world’s most advanced wearable operating system, and it has redefined how people all over the world think of what a watch can do,” said Kevin Lynch, Apple’s vice president of Technology, at WWDC 2023.
Apple announced the new operating system update for Apple Watch at the WWDC 2023 that comes with New metrics, Workout Views, Bluetooth connectivity for power meters, speed sensors and cadence sensors for cyclists.
For those who love to hike, the new watchOs comes with Compass Waypoints and Maps capabilities as well.
Meanwhile, the redesigned apps on watchOS provide more information and also new ways to navigate content.
Apps such as Weather, Stocks, Home, Maps, World Clock and Messages now use more of the Apple Watch display for an easier glanceable information. Whereas Calendar and Reminders will now reshuffle to the top of the Apple Watch to dislay upcoming meetings or tasks. “Control Center is now accessible using the side button, making it easy to quickly open it at any time, over any app. A double-click of the Digital Crown reverts back to any apps used recently,” Apple announced.

The Palette watch face on the Apple Watch depicts time in a wide variety of colours using three distinct overlapping layers and as the time changes, the colours on the display also change.
On the other hand, the comic strip Peanuts is here on Apple Watch with a new watch face that features Snoopy and Woodstock.
These characters are interactive and respond to the weather conditions and also get active when the user is doing a workout.
