If there’s one thing that Elon Musk has been extremely — perhaps more than one would have expected — vocal then it’s the Verified account system on Twitter.

Now, Musk has confirmed an all-new verification process is rolling out on December 2. “Sorry for the delay, we’re tentatively launching Verified on Friday next week,” he said in a tweet.

Musk also mentioned that different coloured check-marks will be rolled out. “Gold check for companies, grey check for government, blue for individuals (celebrity or not),” he said in the same tweet. Further, he also said that “all verified accounts will be manually authenticated before check activates.” Musk is aware that this will take time, which is why he said, “painful, but necessary.

It’s still not clear how much Twitter Verified will actually end up costing in different parts of the world. In the US, it is certain that the subscription service — along with the verified account tag — will cost $8.
