Xiaomi India’s event for its new Redmi Note 12 series has begun. In a surprise move, Manu Kumar Jain, the former Xiaomi India Managing Director, opened the launch event. Jain has moved on to a global role since 2020, though his move also came at a time when Xiaomi faces challenges and scrutiny from the Indian government.
The company is introducing three Redmi Note phones today and all three are 5G-ready. Meanwhile, Muralikrishnan B, Xiaomi India President, also confirmed at the event, that the Pro series in the Redmi Note will be priced above Rs 20,000. Keep in mind that the Redmi Note is one of the most popular selling phones in India and what typically ends up driving the biggest volumes and sales for the company. Krishnan confirmed that the base Redmi Note 12 will be priced between Rs 15,000 to Rs 20,000, while the Pro series will cost between Rs 20,000 to Rs 30,000. All three phones will be 5G-ready, which is a first for the Redmi Note series. There will be no Redmi S or Redmi T variants this time.
Xiaomi is also partnering with Jio to showcase the power of 5G connectivity.
