As per reports, Pornhub violated YouTube’s external policy link which prohibits users from posting content that is not allowed on YouTube, such as pornography. 

By Ankita Chakravarti: YouTube has removed Pornhub from its channel over multiple community guidelines. As per The Variety, Pornhub violated YouTube’s external policy link which prohibits users from posting content that is not allowed on Youtube, such as nudity, pornography.

“Upon review, we terminated the channel Pornhub Official following multiple violations of our Community Guidelines,” “We enforce our policies equally for everyone, and channels that repeatedly violate or are dedicated to violative content are terminated,” YouTube spokesperson Jack Malon told the Verge.

Pornhub had close to 900,000 subscribers. Only safe-for-work content was promoted from the account before it was taken down. Pornhub also had an age restriction on the videos posted to YouTube. Viewers are required to be 18 years of age or older to access the videos posted on Pornhub YouTube. The pornography site has denied claims that it posted or linked to adult content.

“Pornhub maintains the absolute best trust and safety measures on the internet and takes special care to ensure it does not violate any of YouTube’s Community Guidelines. Unfortunately, this is just the latest example of discrimination against those in the adult industry, a trend seen across social media and all other facets of life, especially as groups disingenuously conflate consensual adult content with exploitation,” a Pornhub spokesperson told The Verge.

YouTube is not the only social media platform that has removed Pornhub from its account. Months ago, Instagram also permanently banned Pornhub on its platform. The Meta-owned photo-sharing app alleged that Instagram violated guidelines related to nudity, adult content, and sexual solicitation. “We’ve permanently disabled this Instagram account for repeatedly violating our policies,” the Instagram spokesperson said. The company also mentioned that the account has been permanently banned. The photo-sharing app claimed that Pornhub encouraged users to leave the site to view adult content.

Pornhub accused Instagram of discriminatory behaviour. In an open letter to the platform, Pornhub said, “We demand an explanation and guidance as to why our accounts are continuously deleted, and why content we spend money creating in order to engage with our audience is removed, even when we do not breach any of Instagram’s rules. The livelihoods of independent creators are harmed by Instagram’s reckless and discriminatory behavior. The platform, despite its careless treatment of an already marginalized group, is a vital marketing tool for those in the adult industry. Denying us an ability to promote our brands and grow our businesses while continuously erasing, silencing, and censoring the presence of sex workers and adult brands is violent and profoundly damaging. Combined with the regular financial discrimination those in the adult industry face, it is dangerous and threatening to our livelihoods.
