The iconic Orient Express train is all set to make a comeback soon

As per the latest news reports, the iconic Orient Express that started its journey in 1883 is all set to make a comeback. At that time, the train changed the face of travel experience from Paris to Istanbul. However, the journey was short lived, as the train went off the rails in 1977. And before it made its last run, it was famed for being the most elegant and most expensive mode of travel across Europe.

Now, as per the reports, it is now making a comeback and inviting passengers to relive the legendary travel experience which was known as the ‘Nostalgie-Istanbul-Orient-Express.’ If reports are to go by, the famous train will be making a comeback in 2024 with 17 carriages that were found in Poland, and have been acquired by Accor, the French hospitality group.


The set of 17 carriages from the Nostalgie-Istanbul-Orient-Express, dating from the 1920s and 1930s, are being restored by architect Maxime d’Angeac.

Reportedly, the carriages were found in Poland in 2015, where they’d been left outside for a decade, yet were still in surprisingly good condition. Among them, 12 are sleeping cars, a restaurant car and three lounge cars, which are all enhanced with their original wood-panelled interiors, art decos. And Morrison and Nelson marquetry.

As such, the Orient Express is now all set to revive its original route, using the rediscovered carriages, and which have been renovated under the guidance of architect Maxime d’Angeac. The first nine restored cars will be revealed in December, as per the reports.

Further reports suggest that the first Paris-Istanbul service will launch in time for the Paris 2024 Olympics.
