In a recorded greeting delivered today to the Bengaluru Tech Summit, Prime Minister Narendra Modi praised the city as “the heartland of technology.” A virtual opening ceremony for the Bengaluru Tech Summit’s silver anniversary edition took place today. “Bengaluru is No 1 on India’s innovation index. Bengaluru is the home of technology. It is an inclusive and innovative city. Bengaluru is a hub of technology and we are using our talent for global growth. India is using technology as a weapon in the war against poverty,” said PM Modi. “India jumped 40th rank in global innovation index this year. In 2015 we were ranked 81. The number of unicorn startups in India has doubled, we are now the 3rd largest in world. This is due to India’s talent pool,” said Modi.
