Jio expands 5G services to Chennai, Nathdwara in Rajasthan
Reliance Jio on Saturday announced it is expanding the True 5G-powered Wi-Fi services to Chennai and the temple town of Nathdwara in Rajasthan. The company said it is introducing 5G in high footfall areas such as educational institutes, religious places, railway stations, bus stands, commercial hubs and more. “5G cannot remain an exclusive service to the privileged few or those in our largest cities. It must be available to every citizen, every home, and every business across India,” said Akash M Ambani, Chairman, Reliance Jio Infocomm Limited. Plane carrying five Germans goes missing off Costa Rica
A small plane from Mexico with five German nationals on board disappeared off Costa Rica on Friday, Public Security Minister Jorge Torres announced. “We have received an alert concerning a plane, a private flight from Mexico to the airport” in the eastern province of Limon, the minister said. “This aircraft was carrying five passengers of German nationality,” Torres said in a video message released by his ministry.

Update: Arunachal Pradesh chopper crash
- There were five personnel onboard when the mishap took place. Four mortal remains have been retrieved by the late evening of 21 October. As per the latest reports, efforts are on to retrieve the fifth body.
- It is reported that the weather was good for flying operations. The pilots had more than 600 combined flying hours on the Advance Light Helicopter (Weapon Systems Integrated) and over 1800 service flying hours between them. The aircraft was inducted into service in June 2015.
- Prior to the crash, the Air Traffic Control (ATC) had received a May Day call suggesting a technical or mechanical failure. This will form the focus of the Court of Inquiry, which has been immediately constituted to investigate the causes of the accident.
India’s forex reserves at 2-year low amid depreciating rupee
India’s foreign exchange reserves during the week that ended on October 14 fell to an over two-year low of USD 528.367 billion, a drop of USD 4.5 billion from the previous week. In the preceding week, the country’s foreign exchange reserves were at USD 532.868 billion, RBI data showed. According to RBI’s data, India’s foreign currency assets, which are the biggest component of the forex reserves, declined by USD 2.828 billion to USD 468.668 billion during the week.
