Rahul Gandhi gets contempt notice from the Supreme Court.

The Supreme Court of India today issued a contempt notice to Rahul Gandhi for his comments on the court’s Rafale decision.

Gandhi had before communicated grieve for attributing his statement ‘Chowkidar chor hai’ to the peak court. In any case, the Supreme Court today said that it isn’t happy with Gandhi’s reaction.

“On hearing senior lawyer Abhishek Manu Singhvi in the interest of Gandhi in the contempt appeal we esteem it fit to issue a notice to the respondent (Rahul) Gandhi,” a seat headed by Chief Justice Ranjan Gogoi said.

“We additionally direct the registry to list the audit appeal alongside the contempt request next Tuesday,” the seat likewise including Justices Deepak Gupta and Sanjiv Khanna said.

In the meantime, the court said that it would hear the audit appeal on Rafale decision on April 30 alongside the criminal disdain request recorded by BJP MP Meenakshi Lekhi against Gandhi on April 30.
