“I along with my son met him for one hour. He is being looked after and getting to eat whatever he wishes. He is getting very good treatment,” said Kalsi’s wife while interacting with media in Dibrugarh.
She said, “There is no substantial case against him, they were associated with Amrit Pal who waged war against drugs. He is working for his community and very soon he will be out of jail because there is no case against him.”
“Amrit Pal has done nothing wrong. If they wanted to arrest Amrit Pal they could have as he was at home till 8pm, they wanted him to be on the run so that his name gets tarnished. He has not done anything wrong and very soon he will be relieved of the charges,” she added.
The nine supporters of Pro Khalistan leader Amrit Pal Singh, who were lodged at the Dibrugarh central jail, were questioned by a five-member team of Advisory board under National Security Act (NSA). The members arrived at Dibrugarh and had discussion with detainees on Wednesday.
A senior official demanding anonymity told ET, “The team consists of Retired justice Shabihul Hasnain Chairperson, Suveer Sheokand member, Divanshu Jain Member, Rakesh Agarwal IGP, CI Punjab, Rupinder Kaur Bhatti SP, CI Punjab.”
The official said that the team was there for almost three hours. Since last month, around nine Khalistani supporters have been brought to Assam.Dibrugarj jail in Upper Assam is under multi-layer security. Elite Black Panther of Assam Police commandos is maintaining internal security while the inner security has been handled by members of the CRPF, Assam Police, and prison guards.
