Google has been dealing with a lot of pressure from chatbots such as ChatGPT and Bing AI. With the AI powers, Google’s ability to answer any search question will spike and reach the next level.
Pichai, who also heads Alphabet, told The Wall Street Journal that AI advances would supercharge Google’s powers, while dismissing worries that chatbots pose a threat to the tech giant’s search business.
“The opportunity space, if anything, is bigger than before,” Pichai told the WSJ.
Talking about the implementation of AI in search, Pichai is confident that Google will be able to resolve queries of everyone. “Will people be able to ask questions to Google and engage with LLMs in the context of search? Absolutely,” Pichai added.
Google has a long history of using AI to improve Search for billions of people across the world. Google’s BERT, one of the company’s first Transformer models, was revolutionary in understanding the intricacies of human language.
“Now, our newest AI technologies — like LaMDA, PaLM, Imagen and MusicLM — are building on this, creating entirely new ways to engage with information, from language and images to video and audio. We’re working to bring these latest AI advancements into our products, starting with Search,” Pichai had informed earlier this year in February in a blog post on AI and Search. However, with ChatGPT’s launch in November by Microsoft-backed OpenAI has now led to concerns over the future of AI and mankind.
Despite the debate and tweets, Google has already begun testing new AI tools within its emailing platform, Gmail.
