Parathas are very famous in North India. They are very popular breakfast meals. It is a category of Indian bread and now are available all over India and also in restaurants. If travelling in North India, do eat varieties of parathas at the Dhabas to enjoy the authentic taste. You can also enjoy parathas with tea, milk or glass of lassi.
Parathas are made with different types of stuffing and is heavy to make a proper meal. The specialty of the paratha’s is that they are cooked in desi ghee and served with lots of butter. Nowadays, everyone makes parathas at home as it makes you feel fuller and is healthy to eat. If you want to enjoy the parathas, try to eat them with curd and pickle.
Let’s find out few paratha recipes:
Dough recipe will be the same for all kinds of parathas.
Aloo Paratha
Ingredients
250 gm whole wheat flour
Pinch of salt
1 cup water
50 ml oil
For the filling:
500 gm boiled potatoes
20 gm coriander leaves
20 gm ginger garlic paste
75 gm onions
5 gm green chilies
5 gm turmeric
5 gm chili powder
10 ml lime juice
Oil for frying
Salt as per taste
Method:
1.Make soft dough
2.Make the balls of the dough as per the size
3.Take the boiled potatoes in a bowl, mash them nicely
4.Add onions, ginger garlic paste, green chilies, turmeric and red chili powder. Also add salt, coriander leaves, lime juice and mix it well.
5.Take the dough ball, flatten it and add the stuffing.
6.Roll the balls with a rolling pin and make parathas.
7.Cook the parathas on the both the sides on the pan until golden in color. Apply oil to it.
Paneer Paratha
Ingredients for the filling:
200 gm grated paneer
20 gm coriander leaves
1 medium size onions finely chopped
2 green chilies finely chopped
1 tsp turmeric
1 tsp chili powder
1 tsp garam masala
10 ml lime juice
Oil for frying
Salt as per taste
Method:
1.Take the bowl and mix all the ingredients expect oil.
2.Fill the stuffing in the dough ball and roll it with the rolling pin.
3.On the pan, cook the parathas on both the sides, apply oil or ghee.
4.Serve hot with curd and pickle.
Gobi Paratha
Ingredients
2 cups shredded cauliflower
1/2 tsp carom seeds
1/2 tsp cumin seeds
1 green chili finely chopped
2 tbsp cilantro chopped
1/2 tsp salt
2 tbsp oil to cook paratha
Method:
1.Take the bowl and mix all the ingredients expect oil.
2.Fill the stuffing in the dough ball and roll it with the rolling pin.
3.On the pan, cook the parathas on both the sides, apply oil or ghee.
4.Serve hot with curd and pickle.
