iOS 17 to allow sideloading apps on iPhone? Here’s what we know so far

[ad_1]

While it is being speculated that Apple isn’t focusing on its next OS update, new reports suggest otherwise. Seems like the Cupertino-based tech company has shifted its entire attention on the upcoming iOS 17, which is set to come out in a few months ahead of the release of iPhone 15 line-up.

Several reports suggested that Apple has been busy with its upcoming MR (mixed-reality) headset. However, fresh reports suggest that the tech giant is working in-depth on the upcoming operating system.

As per recent reports, Apple may roll out iOS 17 with support for sideloading apps on iPhone.

How Sideloading Works
If Apple does roll out iOS 17 with sideloading, it’ll be a shocking move as the tech company’s security and privacy does not allow sideloading of apps in order to protect iPhones from malicious software.

The sideloading will open Apple’s operating system to applications that are outside the tech giant’s App Store. If Apple does roll out iOS 17 with this update, it will allow developers to work around paying 15 per cent to 30 per cent of fees to the Cupertino-based tech company.

However, several reports also suggest that Apple might just limit these changes to only the EU and maintain current policy in other regions.Previous reports had revealed that Apple is working on iOS 17 under the codename ‘Dawn’, which is currently under testing and development. Before rolling out the official version of the operating software for the world, Apple will roll out the beta version of iOS 17 for testing. Meanwhile, iOS 17 will most likely come with support for CarPlay, giving users more control over volume, radio, up next and more features right from their iPhone.

There are also speculations that Apple may finally give permission to third-party apps on the App Store and allow them to use their own engines by removing the WebKit requirement.
