Twitter Two Face Authentication News: Twitter shuts down two-face authentication from today: How to set up an alternate 2FA log in method for free

[ad_1]

Twitter is shutting down the two-face authentication security service across its platform starting today. The two-face authentication (2FA), which requires users to enter a code in order to log in, is a multi-factor authentication (MFA) that provides an extra layer of security to social media accounts.

With this new update, Twitter will be providing the 2FA feature to only those users who have the Blue subscription service. From today, March 20, the microblogging platform is putting this feature behind a paywall, which means you either need to shell out Rs 650 per month or switch to another method.

Though Twitter has taken down the feature for free users, it doesn’t mean your account will automatically switch to another 2FA method.

Well, sweat not. We have made a list of 2FA alternatives that you can use for Twitter.

Apart from SMS 2FA, there are other options you can use such as an authenticator app or a security key.

When it comes to authenticator apps, there are many options such as Microsoft Authenticator and Google Authenticator. An authenticator app generates one-time passwords (OTP) that users can use for logging in to their Twitter accounts, just like the code you use through SMS 2FA. However, these codes will appear in the app itself and not in the inbox folder of your text messages.Another safe option is Security Key, which is considered as one of the safest forms of 2FA which prevents phishing and different forms of cyber attack.

However, with more security, comes the hassle. To use this form of 2FA, you will need to buy a physical piece of hardware that you insert or connect wirelessly to your smartphone or computer in order to log in.

The key differs as per the device as some support USB-C, some USB-A and Lightning, while many also support NFC.
