In 2019, Microsoft made a rather silent investment of $1 billion in an AI startup called OpenAI. Open AI was one of the many startups working in AI. That was till November 2022 when ChatGPT arrived and became the talk of the town. Microsoft confirmed a $10 billion investment in OpenAI and now it’s time to milk that investment. In the last couple of months, Microsoft has got ChatGPT and other AI models integrated in many of its services. Here are a few Microsoft apps and services using AI in some form.

Bing and ChatGPT
Bing has had little recall as an actual search engine. Bing has now 100 million users and that’s very much down to how ChatGPT has been integrated by Microsoft. Even in its new avatar, Bing has seen quite a few changes in terms of how it replies to certain queries. For instance, try as hard as you want, it won’t tell you how to make a bomb!

Edge Gets an Edge
Microsoft’s internet browser Edge now has a Bing toolbar which is ChatGPT enabled. Users can directly ask questions there only.

Skype Gets Artificially Intelligent
In the era of Zoom, Meet and Microsoft’s very own Teams, Skype still is surviving but not exactly thriving. Skype users can invite Bing into chat and ask questions to get real-time answers to anything that can be helpful during a chat session.

Search Better in Win 11
The Search bar in Windows 11, as per Microsoft, gets half a billion users every month. That search bar is now AIpowered and can give users answers to their queries.

Bing Images Get Smarter
Bing image search can now deliver AI-generated images. You can search for a forest and you will get an AI-powered image rather than the image of an actual forest.
