The Central Bureau of Investigation has registered a fresh FIR against former Delhi deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia, this time over allegations that a ‘feedback unit’ set up when he was in charge of the government’s vigilance department had snooped on political rivals.

The Aam Aadmi Party leader is also facing allegations of corruption in the now-scrapped liquor policy of the Delhi government, being investigated by both the CBI and the Enforcement Directorate (ED). He is currently in the custody of the ED.

The fresh FIR has also been registered under the Prevention of Corruption Act. The charges include misappropriation of property, criminal conspiracy, criminal breach of trust by a public servant, forgery for the purpose of cheating, using a forged document as genuine, falsification of accounts and criminal misconduct by a public servant. Sisodia has been named as the primary accused in the FIR, registered on March 14.

The Arvind Kejriwal-led AAP government in Delhi had allegedly set up the ‘feedback unit’ in 2015.

An investigation was initiated after an officer of the Directorate of Vigilance in 2016, who was also a part of the feedback unit on deputation, received a complaint.

Last month, the Centre gave sanction to the CBI to prosecute the AAP leader in the case.
