Google frequently brings out updates to its several products such as Search, Maps, Gmail and Docs which are part of the tech company’s Workspace and used greatly by professionals and students.
With a boom in artificial intelligence, Google is bringing the power of generative AI to Docs and Gmail to make creating, connecting and collaborating easier than ever before. “We’re now making it possible for Workspace users to harness the power of generative AI to create, connect, and collaborate like never before,” Google said in an announcement.
The tech giant said that it is rolling out the first set of AI-powered writing features in Docs and Gmail.
“We know from our deep experience in AI and productivity that building features with AI requires great care, thoughtful experimentation, and many iterations driven by user feedback,” Google said in a blogpost.
Google will be launching a bunch of generative-AI features to trusted testers on a rolling basis throughout the year before launching it publicly for all.

These features will let users do a lot more with their Gmail, Docs and Slides such as:
- In Gmail, AI drafting, replying, summarising, and prioritising content in your Gmail
- In Docs, Helping you brainstorm, proofread, write, and rewrite on different topics in Docs
- In Slides, Helping you bring your creative vision to life with auto-generated images, audio, and video in Slides
- In Sheets, the new features will upgrade from giving raw data to insights and analysis via auto completion, formula generation, and contextual categorisation
- In Meet, the AI-powered feature will help generate new backgrounds and capture notes
- In Chat, the features will enable workflows for getting things done
Google is launching these new features this month through its trusted tester programme, starting with English in the US. From there, Google will literate and refine the experiences before making those available more broadly to consumers, small businesses, enterprises, and educational institutions in more countries and languages.
