The media reports said that the iPhone-maker has ordered panels of 10.86-inch and 12.9-inch for iPad Pro, and 14-inch and 16-inch for MacBook Pro. “There is various panel development from 10 inches to 16 inches in progress,” an unnamed source was quoted as telling AppleInsider.
Moreover, the tech giant has ordered a 20.25-inch OLED screen, which it describes as ‘foldable’, according to the report.
While AppleInsider reports that iPad Pro with an OLED screen will be launched by 2024, the MacBook Pro with an OLED screen may hit the market in 2026.
Reportedly, Apple and Samsung Display have started working together on OLED panel development for the upcoming iPad Pro and MacBook Pro models. Now, reports suggest that Apple may also collaborate with LG Display for the same.
Existing MacBook Pro uses a Mini-LED display, which offers higher all-screen brightness than OLED panels, but also suffers from blooming in dark screens, the report said.
Last month, it was understood that Samsung was working to develop two-stack tandem OLED panels for certain iPad models, to be launched in 2024. Two-stack tandem OLED panels include two layers of pixels instead of one and this hybrid technology is likely to offer higher brightness and longer life than existing OLED panels which are used in smartphones, tablets, smartwatches, TVs and laptops.Earlier this week, the Cupertino-based company announced a new MacBook Pro (14-inch and 16-inch models) with Apple’s in-built M2 Pro and M2 Max chipsets. The company claims that the next-generation pro silicon processors will bring more power-efficient performance and battery life to Pro users.
The device offers a Liquid Retina XDR display, an extensive array of connectivity, a 1080p FaceTime HD camera, a six-speaker sound system and studio-quality mics.
With M2 Pro and M2 Max, MacBook Pro will easily tackle tasks and will make the lagging process of effects rendering up to 6x faster than the Intel-based MacBook Pro. The colour-grading feature will become up to two times faster.
While the 14-inch MacBook Pro with M2 Pro is priced at Rs 199,900 and Rs 184,900, the 16-inch model with M2 Pro costs Rs 2,49,900 and Rs 2,29,900.
The devices will be available for purchase from next week – January 24.
Apple claims MacBook Pro will have a battery life of up to 22 hours – the longest battery life ever in a Mac. The gadget supports Wi-Fi 6E, which is up to twice as fast as the previous generation, as well as advanced HDMI, which supports 8K, displays for the first time.
With up to 96GB of unified memory in the M2 Max model, creators can work on scenes so large that PC laptops can’t even run them.
