New Delhi: Filmmaker Anurag Kashyap opened up about India’s first Netflix original series ‘Sacred Games’ and revealed big news regarding the same. Appearing on Mashable India’s The Bombay Journey YouTube series, Kashyap cleared the air around rumours and spoke about OTT at the current time. Giving an update about Sacred Games Season 3, he said that the show has been shut down.
Anurag, who co-directed the web show with Vikramaditya Motwane and Neeraj Ghaywan, said that Vikram Motwane was driving the show and he came on board just 10 days before the shoot for his film ‘Mukkabaaz’. He added that season 3 was supposed to come out, but it was shut down, and Netflix would know the reason behind it.
Speaking about the Tandav controversy and OTT, he said OTT does not dare as everyone is afraid after ‘Tandav’. Amazon Prime Video’s web show ‘Tandav’ was stuck in controversy and many court cases were filed by Hindu outfits for a scene that allegedly hurt religious sentiments.
Anurag Kashyap also talked about his banned film ‘Paanch’. Talking about the film being leaked on the internet, he said that he did not do it. The filmmaker added that he made a print of the film and showed it to various people, one of them could have leaked the film. He said that his film ‘Black Friday’ was also pirated and he used to buy those pirated copies to distribute in the US. He said that somehow his film reached Pakistan and they sent him a message via fusion band Junoon that they made a lot of money out of those films and if he needs any funding they are ready to do it, to which he said ‘no’.
On the work front, Anurag’s directorial venture ‘Almost Pyaar with DJ Mohabbat’ starring Karan Mehta and Alaya F will release on February 3. The film also stars Vicky Kaushal in the role of a DJ.
