India great MS Dhoni, who lives in Ranchi, surprised the players and met them in the dressing room.
The BCCI took to Twitter to share the video of the priceless moment. Dhoni was seen interacting with Washington Sundar separately. “Look who came visiting at training today in Ranchi – the great @msdhoni !” the BCCI captioned the post.

Dhoni is a regular visitor to the JSCA stadium as he is preparing for the upcoming season of the Indian Premier League (IPL). The wicketkeeper-batsman will be leading Chennai Super Kings in the 16th edition of the tournament and has kicked off his preparations.

After the opening T20I, the teams will travel to Lucknow and Ahmedabad for the next two games to be played on January 29 and February 1, respectively.

Ruturaj Gaikwad ruled out of T20I series

India have suffered a blow before the T20I series as Ruturaj Gaikwad has been reportedly ruled out of the series. Cricbuzz has reported that Ruturaj complained about wrist pain during Ranji Trophy and he has now travelled to the National Cricket Academy.

The wrist issue had ruled him out of the home T20I series against Sri Lanka early in 2022 and he will miss another series due to the same problem. The BCCI hasn’t announced his replacement.

Ishan Kishan and Shubman Gill are confirmed to open the innings and Prithvi Shaw might have to wait for his chance. Hardik Pandya will lead the T20I squad and will be assisted by Suryakumar Yadav.
