We are yet to get over the spectacular coronation ceremony we witnessed on May 6 when King Charles III became the King of the United Kingdom. Formerly known as The Prince of Wales, King Charles III succeeded to the royal throne after the death of his mother Queen Elizabeth II on 8 September 2022.
As per Irish Mirror, nine year old Prince George, the eldest grandchild of King Charles III and the eldest son of Prince and Princess of Wales, persuaded his grandfather to make changes to the uniforms that the pages of honour were supposed to wear. Prince George was on the four pages of honour.
The young prince requested his grandfather to replace the breeches and tights. “”He also wasn’t keen on wearing tights and becoming a subject of ribaldry at school,” Mail Online quoted a royal courtier saying.

Once the grandfather agreed to the changes, trousers were implemented in the uniforms instead of tights. “For he, meanwhile, had already decided to swap his own breeches for a pair of naval trousers, much to the dismay of the royal tailor who felt his buckled court shoes had to be worn with tights,” The Express reported.
Prince George was the centre of attention during the coronation event as he helped carry the robes of his grandfather as he entered and left Westminster Abbey. Reports say Prince George had a “deep interest” in the coronation ceremony. Even though he is only nine, George is very mature and already has a deep understanding of the roles of his grandfather and father, as well as his future role. This task is a wonderful sign of the future being laid out by the King,” the Irish Mirror quoted an insider saying before the Coronation.
